Beginnings at Genesis

Took a drive out to Roleystone on a nice day this weekend. We headed for a place called Genesis In The Hills. It's a restaurant that servers vegetarian food and sits happily amongst the trees, birds and the occasional house dog.

We had Burekos and a Vege Burger.

Kids roam easily around the place. The feel is very relaxed but down to earth - I didn't feel the need to be wearing beads or canvas to fit in.

My serving was too small, but very tasty. It was expensive for the size of the serving. My friends

Topped it off with a great ricotta cheese cake (9 out of 10). Mocca that preceded it was good - nice rich chocolate hit at the start of the meal.

Breakfast at Milkd

My girlfriend and I went out to Milkd in Maylands for breakfast this week.

The place is new, fresh, cool and pleasantly busy. We decided to eat in (as opposed to 75% of the trade who pass by for a quick cappo to go). There's heaps of concert posters on the wall (a sure sign they want to appear cool from day 1). The branding and fit out are all appropriate and make the

I had the Vegie option Toast, while the partner in crime had brushetta with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The Vegie toast was haloumi with zuchini and capsicum. Superb.

My friends meal was great - a good sized serving, the smoked salmon was so good that I had to try a piece. Coffee was just as good (8 out of 10).

The barista was cheery, and very very busy. The rest of the staff did their job well, but seemed a bit stressed. Just after we had been served our meal my partner stepped up from the table and tipped her meal on the floor. Within seconds the staff were onto the job of cleaning up the mess, and had arranged another replacement serving for us. (Dodgy table, with a missing screw down foot was partly to blame...). But we both commented that it was nicely done of them to arrange a new serving.

We were impressed. All in all, I'd rate the breakfast 9 out of 10.

Day One

I'm sure that blogging is great mind food. But there's only a small chance this will be a regular thing. Great place to stick the notes and reminders.
